A Community Partnership for Breast Cancer Screening
Humboldt Trinity Healthcare is partnering with Mad River Community Hospital to fund breast cancer screening and follow-up imaging for uninsured and underinsured women in Humboldt County.
Early detection saves lives — but only when screening is accessible. This program helps remove financial barriers so women can receive timely care close to home.
What the Program Covers
Grant funding supports:
- Screening mammograms
- Diagnostic mammograms
- Breast ultrasounds
- Biopsy support when medically necessary
All services are provided locally at Mad River Community Hospital, reducing the need for travel and unexpected out-of-pocket costs.
Impact During The First Six Months
In just six months of funding in 2025, this program delivered:
- 203 screening mammograms
- 26 diagnostic mammograms
- 6 breast ultrasounds
- 1 biopsy funded
These numbers represent more than services provided.
They represent women who did not delay care because of cost. Women who received answers instead of uncertainty. Families who experienced relief instead of prolonged anxiety.
For some, screening confirmed everything was normal. For others, it provided early detection and a clearer path forward.
Access changes outcomes.
2026 Goal: 500 Breast Imaging Services
With expanded outreach and stronger community awareness, our goal for 2026 is to fund at least 500 mammograms and related breast imaging services for eligible women in Humboldt County.
